Political scientist Marat Shibutov commented on the possible merger of the AMANAT party into the Adilet party in a conversation with journalists. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
When asked whether Adilet might not accept AMANAT into its ranks, Shibutov stated that the party is ready for unification.
"I will tell you this. The fact is that we are always ready to accept everyone into our loving and friendly embrace," he said.
Journalists also asked whether the merger of parties could continue and lead to the emergence of a single major political force. Shibutov replied that he does not expect such a scenario.
"I understand that you have such concerns about this scenario. But I want to tell you, no, that will not happen," the political scientist assured.
At the same time, Shibutov did not directly promise that other parties would not merge with Adilet. According to him, the merger with AMANAT is already sufficient, as together these parties will represent a significant part of the party landscape.
"Well, I will not directly promise you this, but I think it is quite enough. In principle, having united, we make up about 80% of all party people in Kazakhstan, and accordingly we are already the favorite in the pre-election race," Shibutov noted.
The political scientist also commented on the decision of the chairman of the Ak Zhol party, Azat Peruashev, to leave his post as head of the political organization.
According to Shibutov, Peruashev is an experienced politician, and his decision on rotation of leadership can be welcomed.
"Azat Peruashev is a very experienced politician. I like him very much as a person and as a politician. I fully welcome his decision, because in fact rotation needs to be carried out. This is a good thing so that everyone can grow in the party," he said.
Shibutov also noted that he knows Daniya Yespayeva, whose candidacy Peruashev proposed for the post of new chairman of Ak Zhol.
"I also know Daniya Yespayeva, she is also a wonderful person. I think that the Ak Zhol party will not lose with her leadership, at least. And perhaps it will develop even better," the political scientist added.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that the XXVI congress of the AMANAT party was held in Astana. Following the congress, AMANAT members issued a statement on the merger of the AMANAT party into the Adilet party. The party stated that this step will strengthen the accumulated experience, personnel and public potential for implementing the country's strategic development tasks and building a Just and Progressive Kazakhstan.
Kursiv also reported that Azat Peruashev announced his decision to step down as chairman of the Ak Zhol party. He explained this by the need to renew leadership and prevent monopoly within the party system. After the announcement of his departure, Peruashev proposed that congress delegates consider the candidacy of Majilis deputy Daniya Yespayeva for the post of new party chairman.
