The State Revenue Committee explained the procedure for importing goods for personal use into the EAEU, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Goods for personal use are intended for personal, family and household needs, not for business purposes. There are specific rules for moving such goods across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Quantitative and qualitative criteria

The order of the Minister of Finance establishes quantitative and qualitative criteria for classifying goods as goods for personal use:

  • 01woolen items – 1 item of the same name, size and style per person;
  • 02mobile phone – 2 units per person;
  • 03tablet – 2 units per person;
  • 04portable computer and accessories (laptop, netbook) – 1 unit per person;
  • 05jewelry – 5 items per person;
  • 06bicycle – 1 unit per person;
  • 07baby stroller – 1 unit per person.

All items may be transported across the customs border only once a month.

Vehicles

Vehicles for personal use imported by any means in quantities exceeding 1 unit per year are considered intended for business activity.

If norms are exceeded

"If the established norms are exceeded or the frequency criterion is violated, the goods may be classified as goods not intended for personal use – in this case, the general procedure for customs declaration and payment of customs duties applies," tax officials say.
