Six gold bars worth 182.3 million tenge have been transferred to state revenue. A Kyrgyz citizen attempted to illegally transport the precious metal weighing 2.8 kg through Kazakhstan to China. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, based on a petition from the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office, a court applied a pre-trial confiscation measure regarding the gold bars.
According to the prosecutor's office, the Kyrgyz citizen purchased the gold bars in her own country. She then brought them into Kazakhstan through the "Kordai Avto" checkpoint with the aim of illegally delivering them to China.
While passing customs and border control, the woman tried to conceal the precious metal. She hid the gold bars under the sole of her shoe.
However, during an inspection conducted at the "Khorgos" International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation, the gold was detected and confiscated.
The total weight of the seized six bars is 2.8 kg, and the purity of the gold exceeds 99 percent. Their total value was estimated at 182.3 million tenge.
