In the city of Shalkar, Aktobe region, a thief broke into the house of a resident who had left the key under a brick. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the regional police, gold items and jewelry worth about 1 million tenge were stolen from the house.

"The thief did not break the door or open the lock. The owner left the key under a brick near the entrance. The suspect found the hidden key and used it to enter the apartment," police said.

During operational search measures, a 39-year-old suspect was identified and brought to the police department. He had pawned the stolen items.

Currently, an investigation is underway. Police advise citizens not to leave apartment keys under bricks, doormats, or other well-known places.
