At the SHAIQAS 2026 military engineering championship, student teams from Kazakh universities presented their IT and engineering developments. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This year, the championship was held from August 13 to 15 in the Akmola region. More than 100 teams from all regions submitted applications to participate. Based on the selection results, the 20 strongest teams advanced to the final, presented their developments, and underwent practical tests on the territory of a military training ground.
The final included student teams from Nazarbayev University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, K.I. Satpayev Kazakh National Research Technical University, Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeyev, Woosong University Kazakhstan, ALT University, SDU University, and other higher education institutions.
The student teams showcased developments in robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous ground platforms, programming, digital technologies, and cybersecurity. Among the proposed solutions were mobile robotic platforms, technologies for evacuating people from dangerous areas, unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes, and other engineering projects.
SHAIQAS 2026 became a unique platform that allowed students to test their ideas in practice, from prototype and software solutions to testing in an environment as close as possible to real conditions. This format contributes to the development of engineering thinking, entrepreneurial approach, and technological competencies among young people, as well as strengthening the interconnection between universities, the state, the defense sector, and industry.
