Every year on the last Sunday of August, Kazakhstan celebrates the professional holiday of miners – representatives of a respected and challenging profession. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Construction, more than 145,000 people work in the country's mining industry. These are workers in underground mines, ore mines, and open pits.

Social support for miners

As part of social support for miners, previously assigned pensions, depending on age and years of service, have been increased by 10% since January 1, 2026.

"In addition, for employees working in hazardous conditions, a special social payment was introduced on January 1, 2024," the ministry's statement said.

Additional support measures are provided for in the collective agreements of enterprises.

Support for industry veterans

The state also offers social support measures and benefits to industry veterans. Their total number exceeds 13,000, of which more than 400 are full holders of the "Miner's Glory" badge.
