Nature Energy Solutions, owned by Shakhmarat Mutalip, announced in May the purchase of a stake in the country's largest mining company, Eurasian Resources Group (ERG). However, the company's own shares have been pledged since May, as noted by Arman Batayev, author of the Telegram channel Finmentor.kz. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Since May 20, shares of Nature Energy Solutions, registered in the AIFC in November 2024, have been pledged. The company is owned by Shakhmarat Mutalip.
Eurasian Resources Group (ERG) announced on May 23 a change of major shareholder. Nature Energy Solutions Ltd. bought 39.3% of ERG shares from Patokh Shodiev (18.6%) and the heirs of Alexander Mashkevich (20.7%).
It is unknown whether the pledge is related to the ERG purchase deal, but Nature Energy Solutions may have pledged them to obtain financing for the purchase of the stake in ERG.
In March, the Financial Times reported that Swiss Glencore supported the proposal of Kazakh entrepreneur Shakhmarat Mutalip to acquire a 40% stake in ERG. According to the publication, the estimated value of the deal is about $1.4 billion. To finance the purchase, Glencore is ready to provide an advance of $800 million for future ferrochrome supplies.
