Hundreds of migrant children are stranded in Spain's Ceuta after a mass crossing. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
A 12-year-old unaccompanied minor who crossed into Spain was escorted by a Spanish soldier to the Spain-Morocco border as the child begged not to be sent back to Morocco. However, a high-ranking official stopped the forced deportation a few meters before the child reached the border after residents and journalists said the migrant was a minor.
Photographs by Associated Press photographer Bernat Armangue show the child walking with a soldier toward the border, as well as migrants gathered around a bonfire on a beach. Another image shows migrants sleeping on the beach.
The incident occurred on August 2-3, 2026. The mass crossing has heightened tensions in Ceuta, drawing attention to the plight of hundreds of minors. Spanish authorities and civil organizations are working to address the situation.
