Firefighting operations in the Semey forest are ongoing. As of now, about 600 people, 148 units of ground equipment, 7 helicopters, as well as the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, law enforcement agencies and local executive bodies have been mobilized to extinguish the fire. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During aerial firefighting, 123 water drops were carried out, delivering 157 tons of water to the fire site, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said.
Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Erlan Nysanbayev and Minister of Emergency Situations, Lieutenant General Shyngys Arinov arrived at the scene.
The heads of the departments are coordinating the work of the deployed forces and resources. The situation is under the personal control of the Prime Minister, the ministry added.
