Light rain has fallen in the area of the forest fire on the territory of the state forest natural reserve "Semey Ormany" in the Abai region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the operational headquarters, precipitation was already observed at the fire site, and according to the forecast of Kazhydromet, rain is expected during the night hours. Specialists believe this could help contain the spread of the fire and ease the work of firefighters.
"As of 22:00, 623 people, 169 units of ground equipment, and seven helicopters have been involved in firefighting. Aviation performed 154 water drops, delivering 291 tons of water to the fire source. With the onset of darkness, the operation of helicopters with water-discharge devices was temporarily suspended," the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan reported.
Despite the forecasts and the suspended aviation work, ground equipment and firefighters continue to battle the blaze around the clock.
Recall that the fire in the Semey Ormany reserve broke out on July 16. Forces and resources from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, National Security Committee, Ministry of Defense, forestry institutions, local executive bodies, and the Ministry of Health have been deployed to fight the fire.
The day before, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, Chingis Arinov, and the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Erlan Nysanbayev, arrived at the scene. They inspected the most dangerous sections of the fire, assessed the operational situation, and held a meeting.
