Kazakhstan's futsal players have made a successful start to the main round of the Champions League. Semey crushed Slovakia's Lucenec 6-0, while Kairat defeated Latvia's Beitar 5-3. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The main round mini-tournaments are being held abroad for our teams. The Semey side is in Slovakia, while the Almaty club is in Belgium.

In the match against the tournament hosts, Semey dominated throughout the game. After Rinat Turegazin opened the scoring in the 7th minute and Brazilian Pedrinho doubled it in the 18th, the hosts seemed to stop believing in victory. After the break, the team coached by Spaniard Sergi Altisent scored four more unanswered goals against the Slovaks. Team captain Chingiz Esenamanov put the final touch on the result.

In the other match of the day, Barsa left Swiss Minerva no chance – 6:1. In the next round, the Spaniards and the Kazakhstanis will compete for leadership in Group 1.

Main round. Group 2. Matchday 1. October 28

Group 2, where Kairat plays, features only three teams. Romanian United Galati withdrew from the tournament. The Almaty side started their match against Champions League main round debutants Beitar Riga impressively. Early in the second half, the Kazakhstanis led 4-0. It could have been 5-0, but Kaio Ruiz, who scored a brace, missed a penalty.

⚽ KAIRAT (Almaty, Kazakhstan) – BEITAR (Riga, Latvia) 4:3 (3:0)

Missed penalty: Kaio Ruiz 19:40 (goalkeeper)

Apparently, Gustavo Lopo Paradeda's men believed in victory too early. They were nearly punished for it. In the 26th minute, the Latvians' Belarusian legionnaire Dmitry Kuzmin scored his second goal to reduce the deficit to a minimum – 4-3.

Kaio Ruiz, however, restored Kairat's two-goal advantage – 5-3. In the closing stages, the author of the first goal, Azat Valiullin, could have wrapped up the result but hit the woodwork. The Russian legionnaire of the Almaty side, Kamil Gereykhanov, also rattled the frame. The score did not change until the end of the match.

According to the Champions League regulations, three teams from each group featuring our clubs advance to the play-offs. Thus, Kairat, Beitar and the host of the Group 2 mini-tournament, Belgium's Sporting Anderlecht, secured their progress before the main round even began.

The clubs finishing in the top two places will be seeded in the play-off draw on November 4. They will play their first matches away.

The Round of 16 matches will take place on November 23 and December 4. The quarter-finals will be held on February 8 and 19. The Final Four will be played at the Bilbao Arena in Switzerland. The semi-finals are on May 7, with the final and third-place match on the 9th.
