A mudflow damaged a section of the republican highway KZ19-01 "Saryozek – Koktal" in the Panfilov district of the Zhetisu region. The most serious damage was recorded at the 152nd kilometer. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Due to heavy rainfall on August 24-25, mud and rock mass was washed onto the road. The flow eroded the roadside and part of the earth bed, after which a local collapse of the right lane and damage to the road surface occurred.
The highway was not completely closed. Currently, vehicles are being passed along the remaining lane in reverse mode.
The section was fenced off, temporary road signs and guiding devices were installed. In addition, patrol police officers are on duty at the site.
To eliminate the consequences, 18 workers and 13 units of special equipment from DEU-90 and DEU-18 were involved. This includes KAMAZ trucks and dump trucks, front-end loaders, MTZ tractors, and a bulldozer.
Currently, road services are clearing mud and rock deposits from the roadway and simultaneously strengthening the eroded part of the earth bed. Restoration work is ongoing.
Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that KazAvtoZhol called on drivers to use toilets culturally.
