The Asian Boxing Championships for U19 and U23 age categories are taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing olympic.kz.
On July 11, quarterfinal bouts were held in the U19 category. As a result, eight Kazakh boxers advanced to the semifinals: Adil Askanbay (up to 50 kg), Edige Nurgozha (up to 55 kg), Akzhurek Kalabay (up to 65 kg), Bibarys Ashirbay (up to 70 kg), Timur Taibekov (up to 80 kg), Ruslan Akhmetov (up to 85 kg), Zhalgas Utebekov (up to 90 kg), and Vladislav Samozhonov (over 90 kg).
Doszhan Zhumakan (up to 60 kg) and Khamza Maksatuly (up to 75 kg) were eliminated. The Asian Championship continues until July 16.
