Minister of Science and Higher Education Saiasat Nurbek addressed applicants who failed to secure state grants and their parents. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to him, a state grant is not the only path to higher education. Kazakhstan has a whole system of additional support.

Additional grants and programs

This year, universities offered more than 2,000 rector's grants. Another 2,000 educational grants were allocated by akimats. In addition, there are targeted employer programs, grants from private foundations and large companies.

The public fund "Qazaqstan Halqyna" offers 350 grants for graduates of rural schools, small and mono-towns. KAZENERGY, Kazatomprom and other organizations implement their educational programs.

Opportunity of vacant grants

The minister noted another opportunity that many do not know about: after enrollment, a portion of state grants becomes vacant each year. Students who started on a paid basis and showed high academic results can later apply for vacant grants.

Advice to parents

Saiasat Nurbek also gave advice to parents: "If your child did not get a grant, today he or she may need your support more than ever. Instead, look through the list of universities together, contact admissions committees, learn about rector's, regional and corporate grants. Look for the next path together."
