Deputy Defense Minister Shaikh-Khasan Zhazyqbaev announced that an investigation has been launched following the death of soldier Yerbaian Mukhtar. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Today, after a Senate session, journalists asked the Vice Minister what measures are being taken regarding the case of Yerbaian Mukhtar. "The Ministry of Defense has not stood aside. Currently, a comprehensive check and investigation is being conducted jointly with the National Guard command to determine what happened. The Ministry of Defense, for its part, is providing all necessary assistance," said Zhazyqbaev.

According to him, the guilty will be punished based on the results of the criminal investigation. Disciplinary measures will also be taken.

It is worth noting that after Yerbaian Mukhtar's death, his body was sent for a forensic medical examination. At that time, a conflict occurred between relatives and the police.

Recall that in 2023, Yerbaian Mukhtar suffered a severe head injury and became disabled. Representatives of the National Guard stated that the soldier fell in the toilet and sustained the injury. Subsequently, internal checks were conducted in the department and a criminal case was initiated regarding the soldier's injury.

In turn, the Ministry of Health reported that Mukhtar Yerbaian received treatment at the Central City Clinical Hospital in Almaty and the National Center for Neurosurgery in Astana, and from August 2024 to January 2025, with family support, underwent rehabilitation treatment in Turkey. After returning to Kazakhstan, he was under the supervision of specialists and received medical care at home.

However, in June 2026, against the background of the underlying severe illness, infectious complications, sepsis, and multiple organ failure syndrome developed, and on June 23, 2026, at 21:40, Yerbaian Mukhtar died.
