Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia Dauren Abayev stated this at a round table dedicated to the results of the Kurultai elections, held at the Kazakh embassy in Moscow. The event was attended by Russian parliamentarians, diplomats, and political scientists.
Return of the 'Kurultai' concept
Abayev noted that the return of the 'Kurultai' concept to the system of state institutions links the historical tradition of Kazakh statehood with the modern model of representative democracy.
Assessment by Russian senator
First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Denisov called the elections 'exemplary' and drew attention to the fact that three-quarters of the socially active population came to the polling stations.
Other participants also spoke at the event. Summing up the round table, its participants congratulated Kazakh citizens on the successful holding of the elections.
