President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed the chairman of the National Security Committee. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

By decree of the Head of State, Yermek Aldabergenovich Sagymbayev was appointed to the position of Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He had previously held this position, and according to the Constitution, after the Constituent Assembly elections, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, the head of the National Security Committee, the Chairman of the National Bank, and the Commissioner for Human Rights must be reappointed.

What is known about Sagymbayev

The 58-year-old lieutenant general graduated from the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute. He then studied at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. In 2021, he received a master's degree in national security and military affairs from the National Defense University of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
