The Russia Today media group is actively expanding its global presence in the international information space, strengthening its positions in regions previously dominated by the West, said the group's Director General Dmitry Kiselyov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
In an interview with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), he discussed the media group's international expansion, noting the recent opening of an editorial hub in Ethiopia, the renovation of the Beijing hub, and the launch of FM broadcasting in Beirut.
"In 2025, round-the-clock radio broadcasting was launched from scratch in Mongolia, and in Vietnam, Sputnik became the only Russian media outlet broadcasting in Vietnamese. In 2024, the RIA Novosti bureau began operations in Indonesia," said the media group's head.
He noted active work on opening new offices in Africa and Asia. "This is not just 'presence.' This is systematic coverage of a continent once dominated by the West," Kiselyov said.
He stated that Radio Sputnik programs are broadcast by radio stations in Botswana, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Guinea, and round-the-clock broadcasting has also been launched in Latin America.
According to him, Pakistan is a priority area for international cooperation. "In the next five years, we are interested in opening a multifunctional editorial center in Islamabad and creating a network of correspondents across Pakistan. By the end of this year, Sputnik will launch its first social media channels in Urdu," Kiselyov said.
The Russia Today media group's partner network includes over 500 media outlets in 108 countries. Official relations have been established with more than 130 entities, including media outlets, universities, analytical centers, and other organizations operating in the media sector, through memorandums, cooperation agreements, and other documents.
