Cristiano Ronaldo has left the training camp of the Portuguese national team on the eve of the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The 41-year-old forward announced his decision on Instagram, promising to explain the reasons for his departure later.
How the decision was made
According to the footballer, he made the decision after the press conference of head coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.
"In due time I will tell all Portuguese the truth about the reasons for my departure from the national team, to which I have always been devoted. Now is the time to wish Portugal and all my teammates, without exception, good luck," Ronaldo wrote.
Situation in the previous match
In the previous match against Norway on September 27, Ronaldo remained on the bench and did not take the field. Portugal won the meeting with a score of 2:1.
Ahead of the next game, Jesus said he also does not plan to field the forward in the starting lineup. The match against Denmark will take place on October 1 in Copenhagen.
The Portuguese Football Federation confirmed Ronaldo's departure.
