Pope Leo XIV honored Barcelona's sacred monuments during his visit to the city. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

On Tuesday evening, more than 130 people gave a unique welcome to the Pope by forming a human tower. So-called "castells" are a unique feat of equilibrium and teamwork that represent identity and culture to Catalonia.

Pope Leo XIV attended a prayer vigil at Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium and blessed a child. He also attended a midday prayer at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia.

The Pope's visit coincided with the 100th anniversary of the death of Antoni Gaudí, the architect of the Sagrada Familia basilica. Gaudí's most famous work, the Sagrada Familia basilica, is still under construction. The Pope also visited the Basilica of Montserrat at the Monastery of Montserrat.

This visit demonstrates the Pope's respect for Catalonia's religious and cultural heritage.
