An inspection will be conducted at the republican psychiatric hospital due to frequent complaints about the condition of patients. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Complaints about patient treatment in the hospital have increased in the media and social networks. In this regard, the Committee for Medical and Pharmaceutical Control is initiating a comprehensive inspection of the institution's activities.
Specialists will check medical documentation, the organization of the treatment process, and the conditions of patient stay. The actions of officials and the observance of the rights of citizens undergoing treatment will also be assessed, the ministry said.
If violations are detected, the ministry will take appropriate measures in accordance with the law, and guilty specialists will be held accountable.
It should be noted that this hospital is the only specialized medical institution of this profile in Kazakhstan. Here, patients undergo treatment who have been subjected to compulsory medical measures based on a court decision that has entered into legal force.
The institution is not a regular hospital. It performs two important tasks: first, providing specialized psychiatric care to people with severe mental disorders, and second, ensuring the execution of court decisions while maintaining security requirements.
More than 80% of the patients in the institution have committed serious and especially serious crimes against the person. The hospital operates under a special treatment and security regime.
