In Russia, doctors removed an ovarian cystoma weighing more than eight kilograms from a 55-year-old woman. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Before the surgery, the patient had endured discomfort for more than a year. Her abdomen had noticeably enlarged, which meant she could only eat in small portions.
According to the Voronezh Oblast Ministry of Health, the woman sought medical help in September. By that time, her abdomen had become greatly enlarged, and she constantly felt a sense of fullness.
At the Liski District Hospital, the woman underwent the necessary examinations and a medical council was convened. The doctors decided to operate on the patient.
The operation was performed by a team of obstetrician-gynecologists and anesthesiologist-resuscitators. The doctors removed a cystoma weighing more than eight kilograms.
It is reported that no complications arose after the surgery. The patient was discharged from the hospital on the sixth day.
This case once again shows why pain should not be ignored. Even if the unpleasant sensations seem tolerable, it is important to consult a doctor promptly and find out their cause.
Earlier, Kursiv Health wrote about a case in Almaty: doctors removed a giant tumor from a woman right during childbirth.
