Russian Federation Council Senator Grigory Karasin stated that Russia does not close the door for contacts and negotiations with Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"We have never closed and will not close the door for dialogue and negotiations. But this is a two-way process. The current position of Kyiv is not constructive," Karasin said.
According to the senator, Russia is ready to normalize relations with Ukraine, but real steps from the Ukrainian authorities are needed. He also noted that Moscow is open to negotiations with the participation of international mediators.
Karasin believes that to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, it is necessary to take into account the interests of all parties. He recalled that Russia adheres to its positions, including Ukraine's neutral status, its refusal to join NATO, and the protection of the rights of the Russian-speaking population.
"Our goal is a long-term and sustainable peace. It can only be achieved through equal dialogue," the senator concluded.
