Russia is open to the negotiation process on Ukraine, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"The Foreign Ministry has updated our position on readiness for a peaceful settlement. We are open to the negotiation process," Peskov told reporters.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met in Manila on Thursday morning. Lavrov confirmed Russia's readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and pointed out the inadmissibility of further arming the Kyiv regime. The parties agreed to continue contacts between the foreign ministries.

Peskov also said that Russia is in contact with the United States on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. "We are continuing contacts. But there is no reason to talk about any progress now," Putin's press secretary said.
