Tensions between Russia and Europe are possible only at Europe's initiative, as Moscow has no plans to attack the West, Russia's ambassador to London Andrey Kelin said. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"Russia has no intention, plan or reason to attack Europe or fight with Europe or Britain. Tensions are possible only at the West's own initiative," he said in an interview with the Vesti agency.
The diplomat noted that discussions on this topic in the West are linked to securing funding for the declining military-industrial complex.
In recent years, Russia has observed unprecedented NATO activity near its western borders. The alliance is expanding its initiatives, calling it "deterring Russian aggression." Russian authorities have repeatedly expressed concern over the bloc's buildup of forces in Europe.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier explained in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that Russia has no intention of attacking NATO countries and that there is no point in doing so.
