Representatives of the Russian military-historical club 'Peresvet' have contacted the Pavlodar detachment 'Maidan Zholy' to find relatives of Mikhail Anisimovich Melnik, born in 1907. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

A native of the village of Maliyevtsy, Solobkovets district, Kamenets-Podolsk region (now Khmelnytsky region, Ukraine), he lived in the city of Kostanay at the time of his conscription in 1943. The soldier's award was found on the street by a resident of Bishkek in the early 1990s.

The medal may have been lost by the owner or his family. The woman kept the medal, and later, after moving to another city, she contacted the searchers from 'Peresvet' to restore the hero's name and find his relatives.

Information can be sent to the commander of the search detachment 'Maidan Zholy', Alexander Shitov (+7 777 461 73 78, [email protected]).
