Kairat head coach Rafael Urazbakhtin commented on the victory over Kyzylzhar in the postponed match of the 17th round of KPL-2026. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The Almaty club won 3:0 at the Central Stadium. Dastan Satpayev scored a brace, making this his last home match for Kairat before moving to Chelsea. Another goal was scored by Ismail Bekbolat.
After the game, Urazbakhtin noted the result but emphasized that the team would not celebrate the victory for long.
"We are very happy with the win. We are very happy for Dosik that he scored two goals in such a match. We don't have such euphoria; important matches are ahead. Today we will rejoice a little, tomorrow we will prepare for the return game," Urazbakhtin said after the game.
The coach also explained how Kairat managed to cope with the opponent's low defense. According to him, the staff expected the match to be similar to the previous game against Atyrau, so they made changes to the players' positioning in advance.
Urazbakhtin noted that the team analyzed the mistakes of the previous match, saturated the attacking line, and used the flanks more often. At the same time, he admitted that Kairat still has questions about finishing, especially given the number of chances created.
"We worked on a lot of things – it worked out for us. At times, good combinations came off, the flanks worked well. Of course, we still need to improve," the coach added.
Separately, Urazbakhtin spoke about the upcoming Champions League qualification, where Kairat will start with matches against Montenegro's Sutjeska. According to the specialist, the team is not yet switching to European competitions because there are still several domestic matches before the first UCL game.
"To be honest, we don't look that far ahead. Now all thoughts are about recovery and the upcoming game in Petropavlovsk. In general, any opponent is dangerous, so we will approach the match with all seriousness. Especially since we already played last year, we know that anything is possible, and on our example. Yes, we identified the opponent, then we will gradually analyze, watch, prepare," Urazbakhtin said.
Kairat's next match will again be against Kyzylzhar – on June 21 in Petropavlovsk. In the KPL table, the Almaty team is second, trailing Ordabasy by one point, while the Shymkent club has two games in hand.
