Rumors of a Serial Maniac: Police Explain Deaths of Two Girls in Kyzylorda
Residents of the Kyzylorda region are discussing rumors on social media about the appearance of a serial killer after two girls died in the region a few days apart. The police department commented on the situation, dispelling speculation about a "maniac": the cases are not related to each other. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
First case in Shieli district
In the first case in the Shieli district, law enforcement has detained and taken into custody a local resident. He is suspected of involvement in the death of a girl whose body was found in a canal on June 3. Relatives of the deceased stated that the child went missing on the evening of June 2. The police immediately classified the case under the article "Murder."
"Currently, investigative and operational measures are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. In the interests of the investigation, the data of the pre-trial investigation are not subject to disclosure," said acting head of the investigative department of the DP, Asylbek Bekseitov.
Second case: accident on the Syr Darya
The second tragic incident, which coincided in time, occurred in the regional center itself and turned out to be an accident. The day before, large-scale two-day searches for six-year-old Medina Muratkyzy ended in Kyzylorda.
On the evening of June 5 at about 18:30, the child went out to play in the yard in the Rismash area, located right at the dam on the bank of the Syr Darya, and disappeared without a trace. Rescuers, police and volunteers searched for the girl around the clock, but a miracle did not happen — her body was found in the river.
Law enforcement emphasizes: there is no criminal trace or connection with the detention in the Shieli district here. An investigation is being conducted into the death of the child in Kyzylorda.
