Reconstruction of railway stations at Zhosaly, Toretam and Aral teńizi in Kyzylorda Region has been completed. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The Ministry of Transport reported the completion. Work is still ongoing at two other stations in the region.
What was done at the three stations
At the three stations, facades, roofing, interior spaces and engineering systems were renovated, and platforms and adjacent areas were repaired. Energy-saving windows and aluminium stained-glass panels were installed in the buildings, along with equipment and furniture. Materials produced in Kazakhstan were used for finishing.
Zhosaly station
The two-storey Zhosaly station building was constructed in 1905. Its area is 628.8 sq. m. The station handles 22 passenger trains, which connect it to major cities of Kazakhstan, as well as to Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Toretam station
At Toretam station, a two-storey station building with an area of 628.8 sq. m was reconstructed. On average, more than 340 passengers use it daily. The station handles 22 passenger trains.
Aral teńizi station
The Aral teńizi station building was constructed in 1904. After reconstruction, its area is 439.8 sq. m. The average daily passenger flow exceeds 640 people. The station handles 24 passenger trains connecting Aral with cities in Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries.
Work under the programme
The reconstruction was carried out under the railway station modernisation programme on the instructions of the president. In Kyzylorda Region, work continues at Terenozek and Zhalagash stations.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that after reconstruction, a railway station was opened in Kostanay, which can now simultaneously receive up to 2,000 people. The building now has lifts, an escalator, a children's playroom and a round-the-clock cafe.
