In the Kyzylorda region, 150 carbon monoxide detectors have been purchased for large families in difficult social and living conditions. They are currently being installed in residential homes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The detectors were purchased with sponsorship support from the regional Department for Child Protection. The devices detect dangerous concentrations of carbon monoxide and warn residents.

The installation is part of preventive measures for the heating season aimed at preventing fires and poisonings in residential buildings.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded of the need to safely use stoves and heating appliances, clean chimneys in a timely manner, and check the serviceability of heating systems.

Earlier, Kursiv wrote that in March, four people died in Shymkent, presumably from carbon monoxide poisoning. In one of the apartments, an illegally installed water heater, the absence of a ventilation channel, and no draft in the chimney were found, which could have led to gas accumulation.
