Police in Kyzylorda region have uncovered two large drug plantations. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Polisia.kz.
The operations were carried out as part of the republican operation 'Karasora-2026'. Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Kyzylorda Regional Police Department are identifying cases of illegal cultivation of narcotic plants.
During a recent raid, police, together with the 'Burkut' special forces unit of the National Guard, conducted an aerial survey of the area using a helicopter.
As a result, two plots with illegally grown narcotic plants were discovered near the village of Zhinishkekum in the Aral district.
At the first plot, 1,090 cannabis bushes were seized, along with irrigation and plant care equipment. Three suspects were detained in connection with this case.
At the second plot, 849 cannabis bushes, a bag of narcotic plants, and a bag of seeds were found and seized. Three suspects were also detained at the scene.
During the investigation, forensic examinations were ordered on the seized physical evidence. According to the expert opinion, the seized plants are classified as narcotic.
Criminal cases have been initiated on these facts. The suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility. Necessary investigative actions are currently underway.
Since the start of the 'Karasora-2026' operation, 27 drug-related offenses have been prevented in the Kyzylorda region. The police department reported that they continue systematic work to combat drug trafficking.
Earlier, 'Kursiv' reported that in Astana, during the operational preventive measure 'Karasora', police found a home marijuana plantation in the apartment of a local resident who conducted Tarot card reading sessions.
