More than 880 million cubic meters of water have been sent to preserve 181 lake systems in the Kyzylorda region. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
These measures are carried out annually for environmental protection purposes to preserve lake systems, hayfields and pastures in the region. Since the beginning of the year, 881.4 million cubic meters of water have been sent for environmental purposes in the region.
Water supply volumes by district
- 01Zhanaqorgan district – 82.4 million cubic meters;
- 02Shieli district – 72.3 million cubic meters;
- 03Kyzylorda city – 73 million cubic meters;
- 04Syrdarya district – 174.4 million cubic meters;
- 05Zhalagash district – 166.2 million cubic meters;
- 06Karmakshy district – 72.4 million cubic meters;
- 07Kazaly district – 230.7 million cubic meters;
- 08Aral district – 10 million cubic meters of water.
Environmental balance and economic impact
"This work is aimed at preserving the ecological balance of the Kyzylorda region and protecting local flora and fauna. Preserving the environment contributes to improving the quality of life of the region's residents, developing livestock and irrigated agriculture, as well as the region's economy," said Seiilbek Nurymbetov, chairman of the Committee for Regulation, Protection and Use of Water Resources.
Plans until the end of the year
By the end of the year, about another 360 million cubic meters of water are planned to be sent for environmental purposes. Currently, in accordance with the approved schedule, work is underway to supply water to 181 lake systems in the Kyzylorda region, as well as to hayfields and pastures.
