A case of alleged sexual violence against a minor athlete is being investigated in the Kyzylorda region. The girl claims that her coach raped her over the course of two years, filmed what happened on his phone and forced her to stay silent through threats. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Channel One "Eurasia", the victim said it all began when she was 14 and the coach was 38. The girl had come to Taldykorgan for a field hockey competition. While the other team members went out to walk around the city, she stayed at the hotel.
The teenager claims the coach brought her a drink, after which she lost consciousness.
"I didn't suspect anything bad and drank the beverage. After that I don't remember anything. I don't know how I fell asleep, where I was or what was happening at all. When I woke up in the morning, around five or six o'clock, all my underwear was covered in blood. Seeing that the coach was lying next to me, I got scared and was in shock," the victim said.
The girl stated that after the incident the coach began blackmailing her with a video recording. According to her, the man threatened to distribute the video and cause problems for her relatives if she told anyone about what had happened.
"If you don't want me to distribute this video, you will do everything I say. Don't tell anyone at home anything and follow only my instructions. If you tell your family, a statement will be filed against me, there will be a trial. But I have older brothers who will sort everything out. He threatened to put me and my relatives in prison," the girl said.
According to the victim, the abuse continued for about two years. She also stated that the coach introduced her to other men for money.
In the end, the girl told her relatives everything, after which the family turned to law enforcement. However, the mother and brother of the minor then became suspects in another criminal case. The woman is under house arrest, and her son is in a pre-trial detention center. They are suspected of kidnapping.
"I consider it wrong that a criminal case was opened against my mother and brother. Do you think parents can calmly stand aside when they learn that their own daughter has been raped? In the place of other people, they could have killed the culprit right there. But we gave him the opportunity to leave, we demanded that he leave this city," said the victim's sister.
The circumstances of the alleged kidnapping and the reasons for the criminal prosecution of the girl's relatives are not officially disclosed.
The coach and his acquaintance were detained and placed in custody. The police did not specify what role, according to the investigation, each of the suspects might have played.
"Two suspects have been detained and, by court sanction, placed in custody. The course of the investigation is under the special control of the leadership of the police department. In the interests of the investigation, other information is not disclosed," said Bauyrzhan Saulebekov, head of the investigative department of the regional police department.
The girl's relatives demand that everyone involved be held strictly accountable. The guilt of the suspects, as well as of the minor's mother and brother, must be established by a court.
