Chinese companies have been selected as contractors for a new gas processing plant (GPP) with a capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the Kashagan field. The project has entered the implementation stage, the Ministry of Energy reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov held a meeting on the implementation of the project to build a gas processing plant with a capacity of 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the Kashagan field. According to him, the project has entered the implementation stage.

Representatives of QazaqGaz, PSA, and shareholders of the consortium developing Kashagan – NCOC discussed the project status, interaction between participants, and measures to complete it on schedule. Currently, one GPP with a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters is already under construction at Kashagan.

By a government decree, two companies from China – China National Chemical Engineering Sixth Construction Company and China Wuhuan Engineering Corporation – were selected as EPC contractors (i.e., full-cycle contractors for design, procurement, and construction stages). Both companies are part of the China National Chemical Engineering Corporation (CNCEC). CNCEC specializes in chemical engineering and petrochemical projects.

Yerlan Akkenzhenov instructed all project participants to ensure effective coordination of work and constructive interaction to meet the established project deadlines.

Earlier, it was reported that South Korea's Hyundai Engineering announced it had received a contract to build the Karachaganak gas processing plant. The capacity of the GPP will be 5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
