Chinese cars are gradually becoming a noticeable part of the used car market. With increasing mileage, the question arises which components require attention first. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to Alexander Goman, head of one of the Fit Service auto service branches, at 30–50 thousand km mileage, it is usually about normal wear. Attention may be required for stabilizer bushings and struts, silent blocks, wheel bearings, brake pads and discs. On some cars, brake disc runout appears already by 30–40 thousand km.
During the same period, failures of multimedia, cameras, parking sensors, sensors and climate system are possible. Often they can be eliminated by software updates, checking contacts or replacing a separate component.
At around 80–120 thousand km, the transmission becomes a potentially more expensive problem. This is especially true for CVTs and robots that are sensitive to overheating, slipping, sudden accelerations and untimely oil changes. Therefore, when buying a used car, it is important to check the service history of the gearbox and its operation.
For example, for Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with a CVT, the expert advises checking for delays at start, jerks, hum or vibrations. For Haval Jolion and F7, it is worth paying attention to the condition of the robotic gearbox. For Geely Coolray, possible complaints also include individual electronic failures and issues with transmission operation.
Modern turbocharged engines with a volume of 1.5–2.0 liters, with proper maintenance, can last 150–200 thousand km without major repairs. However, extended oil change intervals, unsuitable lubricants, high loads and overheating can reduce the resource.
After 80–100 thousand km, it is worth additionally checking the cooling system, thermostat, pump, hoses and connections. Even a small antifreeze leak or unstable engine temperature is a reason for diagnostics.
When choosing a used Chinese car, you should look not only at the body and odometer readings. First of all, you need to check the gearbox, suspension, brakes and electronic systems, as well as look for traces of leaks.
For a turbo engine, the oil change history is especially important; for a CVT or robot, confirmation of regular maintenance.
At the same time, Chinese cars themselves do not necessarily require more frequent repairs than Japanese or European classmates. On the secondary market, the condition of a particular car is often more important than the country of origin of its brand.
Earlier, Kursiv Avto told how to understand that brake pads are close to replacement.
