Thirteen Chinese citizens who violated Kazakhstan's legislation have been detained, the National Security Committee reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

The foreign nationals organized a covert scheme of international internet fraud on the territory of Kazakhstan. They were found to possess a large amount of computer equipment, mobile phones, Starlink satellite internet communication kits, as well as large sums of money stored in crypto wallets, according to the statement.

The group's activities were directed against citizens of other countries who are not residents of Kazakhstan and were coordinated from abroad. In this regard, the investigation was conducted jointly with the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.

It was established that some of those detained were wanted in their home country for similar actions. On October 16, the foreign citizens were administratively deported from Kazakhstan and handed over to the authorized bodies of China for further investigation.
