At the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, a robot sprinter broke another 100-meter record. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.
The winning robot finished the 100 meters in 8.64 seconds, breaking a record for the second straight day. On Tuesday, a robot ran 8.86 seconds, and four days earlier another clocked 9.39 seconds. For comparison, the men's 100-meter world record is 9.58 seconds.
The five-day competition ended on Wednesday, with more than 2,000 humanoid robots competing in Olympics-style events including soccer, boxing, and running.
During the race, one robot hit a barrier at the finish line and caught fire, but officials extinguished the flames. This was one of the most dramatic moments of the event.
