Leaders of China, Russia and India will meet at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to counter US influence. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Associated Press.

The summit will take place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to attend. The meeting is aimed at countering US influence on the world stage.

The SCO is an international organization comprising China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Iran. The main goal of the organization is to strengthen regional security and cooperation.

Earlier, on July 24, 2026, a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. It was attended by SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev, Indian Foreign Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev, Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov and Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. Also present was Ularbek Sharsheev, Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of a portrait of famous Kyrgyz and Soviet writer Chinghiz Aitmatov.

According to Associated Press, the SCO summit is aimed at countering US hegemony. Member states intend to strengthen economic and political cooperation.

During the summit, the parties are expected to discuss regional security issues, counter-terrorism and economic cooperation.
