China has invested over $30 billion in Kazakhstan's economy. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated this at a meeting with heads of leading Chinese companies. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the head of state, bilateral trade volume reached $49 billion last year. This is a record figure.
"Currently, more than 8,500 enterprises with Chinese capital are successfully operating in Kazakhstan. Among them, it is necessary to note such large companies as CNPC, CITIC, and Huawei. We highly appreciate the contribution of Chinese business representatives to the modernization of Kazakhstan's economy," Tokayev said.
In previous years, the countries have jointly implemented many important projects. As a result, jobs were created and advanced technologies were introduced.
"Today, we are also jointly implementing new strategic projects. In particular, we have started construction of a large gas-chemical complex with Sinopec, a deep corn processing plant with Fufeng Group, and a modern cotton-textile cluster with Lihua Group," the president added.
According to him, Chinese automobile manufacturers have begun opening production facilities in Kazakhstan.
"For example, HOWO, Yutong, and JAC brands are produced in our country. Last year, multi-brand automobile production of Changan, Great Wall Motor, and Chery was launched. These projects show that our bilateral partnership is based on innovation, advanced technologies, and industrial modernization," the president concluded.
