In East Kazakhstan region, an attempt to illegally export more than two tons of diesel fuel to China was thwarted. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

At the Maikapshagai customs post, during inspection, homemade additional tanks for concealed fuel transportation were found in four vehicles driven by Chinese citizens. They attempted to illegally export about 2,640 liters (over 2 tons) of diesel fuel from Kazakhstan.

"This action does not fall under the permitted categories of exceptional cases. That is, the transported fuel is not humanitarian aid, not a certified sample for scientific needs, and does not correspond to the volume of the vehicle's standard factory tank. Thus, signs of direct non-compliance with the established ban were identified in the actions of the PRC citizens," the State Revenue Department for East Kazakhstan region reported.

The Chinese citizens were brought to administrative responsibility, each fined 32,000 tenge. All collected materials were sent to the Department of Economic Investigations for East Kazakhstan region.

The State Revenue Department reminded that strict restrictions have been introduced in the country by order of the Ministry of Energy to protect the domestic market. Until November 21, 2026, the export of gasoline, diesel fuel, and certain types of petroleum products by road from Kazakhstan (including to EAEU member states) is completely prohibited. Until December 31, the export of light distillates, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, gas oil, toluene, xylene, and petroleum bitumen outside the EAEU customs territory is prohibited.
