The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS KR) reported that it conducted a large-scale anti-terrorist special operation to neutralize members of the organizations 'Katiba al-Tawhid wal-Jihad' and 'Islamic State', who were planning terrorist attacks against law enforcement officers and religious figures. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

As a result of the measures taken, 31 people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the preparation of terrorist crimes (11 persons in Osh region and 20 in Batken region).

During searches, the detainees were found to have religious extremist literature, electronic media with extremist materials, four units of unregistered firearms, symbols of terrorist organizations, as well as funds intended to finance the foreign terrorist underground.

The special operation was led by the Chairman of the SCNS KR, Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov. He instructed to ensure strict control over the situation and the safety of citizens. Instructions were also given for further verification of the detainees' connections, identification of their possible accomplices, and detection of channels for financing illegal activities.

Earlier, 'Kursiv' wrote that after the high-profile personnel changes in February 2026, the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan came under close scrutiny by the press and politicians. Observers noted that deputies and officials, who during the time of General Kamchybek Tashiev 'preferred to remain silent', began to speak out frequently and openly about the special service.
