The open trial of former National Security Committee chairman Kamchybek Tashiev and other former high-ranking officials on charges of state coup continues at Bishkek's Pervomaisky District Court. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Presiding judge Aziret Mederov expressed indignation that he could not enter the courtroom, nor could the defendants, due to a large crowd of media representatives in the courthouse. As a result, several lawyers proposed considering the possibility of holding the process in a closed session again:

"Journalists approach the defendants too closely. The process started 15 minutes ago, but the court session has not actually begun due to disputes with journalists," one of the defenders complained.

Judge Mederov asked each journalist to come to his office after the session to discuss how to proceed further.

Kamchybek Tashiev was dismissed from his post as head of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan on February 10. After that, a series of high-profile detentions took place in the country's security forces.

At the end of April, lawyer Sherdor Abdykaparov confirmed that Tashiev, former deputy Kurmankul Zulushev, and former speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiev had been officially charged.

Later, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stated that he was ready to put his close friend on trial. Then Tashiev was interrogated by investigators and banned from leaving Kyrgyzstan.

Recently, the "case of 75 elders" regarding an attempt to forcibly seize power was completely declassified, and the press was officially allowed to attend the proceedings.
