Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Council has set the date for the presidential election. The next presidential election in Kyrgyzstan will be held on January 27, 2027, according to a parliamentary resolution. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the parliament's press service, the draft resolution on setting the election date was presented by Gulnar Akimbaeva, chair of the committee on constitutional legislation, state construction, local self-government and the regulations of the Supreme Council.
"The election of the President of Kyrgyzstan has been set by a resolution of the Supreme Council. The next presidential election is held on the fourth Wednesday of January in the year in which the term of office of the current head of state expires," the statement says.
Thus, the election date was determined in accordance with the requirements of Kyrgyzstan's Constitution: the next presidential election is held on the fourth Wednesday of January in the year in which the term of office of the current head of state expires. The fourth Wednesday of January 2027 falls on January 27.
The draft resolution was presented by Gulnar Akimbaeva, chair of the Supreme Council's committee on constitutional legislation, state construction, local self-government and the regulations of the Supreme Council. The parliament's press service confirmed the adoption of the resolution.
Earlier, as reported by Sputnik Kazakhstan, the Kurultai elections were held in 2026. Also, on August 23, a statement by the president was published saying that a Kurultai deputy must fulfill the promises made.
