The new academic year in general education schools of Kyrgyzstan will begin on September 15, 2026 and end on May 25, 2027. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The corresponding decision was made by the Ministry of Education of the country. The change in dates is due to the holding of the World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan, the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization states, as well as the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the republic's independence.
To fulfill the educational programs, the organization of the educational process in schools has been adjusted. For primary school students, the traditional five-day school week will be preserved. At the same time, for high school students, eight additional school Saturdays are provided during the academic year. It is expected that classes will be held approximately once a month.
At the same time, schools are recommended to decide on which Saturdays to organize classes, taking into account the suggestions of teachers and parents. These changes demonstrate the flexibility of Kyrgyzstan's education system and allow for effective organization of the educational process taking into account important events in the country.
