An unusual incident occurred during the multi-kilometer alaman-baige race at an international competition in Kyrgyzstan. A rider from Kazakhstan fell off his horse, after which a Kyrgyz boy, Alikhan Askarbekov, continued the race on the same horse and finished third. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to eyewitnesses, the fall happened mid-distance. After the rider dropped out, Askarbekov ran to the horse, jumped on it, and continued the race. Later, the horse's owner, a citizen of Kazakhstan, gave Alikhan the prize money of 250,000 soms (1.3 million tenge).
The international horse racing competition "Issyk-Kul Cup 2026" took place on July 21. The tournament program included alaman-baige, top-baige, kunan-baige, and short-distance races.
The competition featured riders and horses from various regions of Kyrgyzstan, as well as guests from Kazakhstan. Winners and prize-winners were awarded valuable prizes.
