The Financial Monitoring Agency reported that since the beginning of the year, 712 attempts to illegally export fuel and lubricants from the country have been stopped. Eight pre-trial investigations have been launched into illegal oil product trafficking and smuggling. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In the Mangystau region, the activities of an illegal mini-oil refinery that had processed over 28,500 tons of unaccounted oil since 2022 were exposed. The produced oil was documented as fuel oil and exported abroad.

In the Turkistan region, the illegal activities of a transnational criminal group that organized gasoline smuggling into Uzbekistan through a specially dug tunnel under the state border were stopped. The perpetrators were sentenced to long prison terms.

An investigation into a criminal group involved in the illegal transportation of AI-92 gasoline to Kyrgyzstan has been completed. The volume of illegally exported fuel exceeded 190,000 tons, with a value of over 37 billion tenge. During another illegal transportation attempt, 8 railway tank cars containing about 500 tons of gasoline were seized at the Turksib station. The confiscated gasoline, worth 138 million tenge, was turned over to state revenue.
