The Central Election Commission has started reviewing party lists of candidates for the Kurultai elections. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the plan for holding the Kurultai, the submission of party lists ended on July 13. Seven parties nominated a total of 546 candidates. Among them: Akzhol – 63 candidates; Auyl Party – 69 candidates; ADILET Party – 186 candidates; Baitaq Party – 47 candidates; People's Party of Kazakhstan – 72 candidates; Nationwide Social Democratic Party – 33 candidates; Respublica Party – 76 candidates.

By law, parties participating in the elections pay an election fee for each candidate. In 2026, the fee is 1,275,000 tenge. However, according to Secretary of the Central Election Commission Shavkat Utemisov, political parties that served in the VIII convocation of the Majilis of Parliament are exempt from paying the fee.

"Thus, of the seven parties that nominated candidates for the Kurultai, only two (ADILET and Baitaq) will pay the election fee," Utemisov said at today's commission meeting.

If a candidate decides to withdraw from the election, they must write an application to the commission. However, applications are not accepted two days before the election. The candidate remains on the party list.

The Kurultai will have 145 deputy mandates. Registration of party lists will continue until 18:00 on July 23. The commission will review and register each list separately.
