The head of the national company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, Yelzhas Otynshiev, announced that all passenger trains have been connected to the internet. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Otynshiev said this at today's government meeting. According to him, more than 1,500 carriages are now equipped with internet.

Starlink satellite connectivity has been launched on 108 train sets, across 51 routes.

"Thus, according to the current traffic schedule, all passenger trains operating on the territory of Kazakhstan are connected to the internet. More than 11 million passengers will be able to use this service annually," Otynshiev said.

Transtelecom JSC is responsible for installing Starlink terminals. The company approves the terms of providing the internet service.

"Text messaging in the Aitu, WhatsApp and Telegram messengers, as well as service information for passengers, is provided free of charge," the head of KTZ noted.
