In Kazakhstan, revenues from value-added tax (VAT) increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin at a government meeting. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the minister, in the first half of this year, state budget revenues increased by approximately 16%. He particularly highlighted the dynamics of VAT receipts.

"Revenues from value-added tax increased by 1.5 times compared to the corresponding period last year," said Zhumangarin.

The minister also provided data on the number of business entities. Currently, the total number of entrepreneurs is 2.939 million. This is 499,000 entities, or 20.4%, more than at the beginning of the year.

The number of self-employed individuals reached 688,597. The number of VAT payers increased from 135,845 to 158,194.

"Despite the transition of individual entrepreneurs to the category of self-employed, the positive growth of gross value added per worker in the economy is maintained," added the Minister of National Economy.

More than 60 percent of registered small and medium-sized businesses in Kazakhstan operate in trade, agriculture, and other services.
