In Kostanay, the head of a construction company has been sentenced, leaving dozens of families without housing. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, the director of the construction company, without permission to attract funds, entered into contracts with citizens for the purchase of apartments for two and a half years.
Fraud scheme
The prosecutor's office stated that the company head, knowing that construction could not be completed, continued to collect money from citizens. From April 2022 to November 2024, more than 123 million tenge was raised, which the company head disposed of at his own discretion.
Consequences
As a result, dozens of families were left without promised housing and without investments. During the court proceedings, all victims were fully compensated for the damage caused.
Court verdict
The court sentenced the head of the construction company to conditional imprisonment with probation supervision. Additionally, he was banned from holding leadership positions in construction organizations for 5 years.
